1.
Music videos demonstrate genre characteristics.
(e.g. stage
performance in metal videos, dance routine for boy/girl band, aspiration in Hip
Hop).
the music video i have allocated is the Joel Compass- back to me video
2. There is a relationship between lyrics
and visuals. The lyrics are represented with images.
(either
illustrative, amplifying, contradicting).
i think that the music visuals amplifies the lyrics to some extent of the "back to me" lyrics with the little boys father dying and him wanting thin to come back alive so he takes him to a spiritual lady who will help revive him. Then they are certain areas when the lyrics go with the visuals Joel says the lyric "shadows fall like rain drops" through out the video there is rain and its also filmed in black and white. then as he songs plays on we see a woman in a window and there is something strange about her the why she touches the window and her eyes seem to be not human. when she appears the line "shadows fall like rain drops" is said this could mean that the shadows are the things inside the boys father that are making him have so much hatred in him to carry a gun around and want to go rob and kill people and the woman is going to remove them from the father. All his sins will drop like rain drops. that could be the hidden message in that line.
3. There is a relationship between music
and visuals. The tone and atmosphere of the visual reflects that of the music.
(either
illustrative, amplifying, contradicting).
the music is a very slow song and the visuals illustrates that they move to the beat and are in slow motion with juxtaposition frames. There's points where the lyrics and the visuals and they give and set the mood of the viewer and makes them feel more engaged with the music video because they hear the lyrics and they see the visual of what that lyric is stating
