Planning- Casting

For casting purposes I have to make sure that my characters I pick are well suitable for the role because if not that would jeopardise my final piece. I want people who are confident in front of the camera and comfortable in what they will be doing in the shoots. Also I want people who be able to adapt what I give then to them in a way which will suit them best. I am going to keep my cast very minimal and only have three characters. Two girls and one boy who will play Trey.

I think it is crucial that when it comes to the roles of the female characters I pick the two that are very different in how they portray themselves. This will make things much easier when it comes to filming. I say this because they are not professional actors or models who are able to adapt into any situation. I need two girls who are completely different from each other.

First female- This role will be the girlfriend of the boy who plays trey in the music video.

She will be a young, beautiful, classy girl who is full of life. She has great ambitions and is a dedicated individual. She will either have Blonde or Brunette hair. I don't mind the hair colour of the girl because it will be edited to black and white. She has to have her own car in which she can drive as some of the shots will involve her to driving to a location. Also I need this female to be able convince people that she is crying, angry and happy during the different shots.

Second female- This will be the role of the girl who Trey cheats with in the music video. 

This female will be very flirtatious, confident and attractive to the eye. She's very out going and loves having fun. She can easily fall in love with someone and tends to go for men who are already taken by other women but she doesn't care. She's attracted to people with money and will do near enough anything to get money. However she falls in love with Trey and does not want him to go back to his girlfriend to try and sort things out. This girl will also need to show a range of emotions in the shots that she will be in.

Trey Songz- 

Trey will be played by a confident boy who can also range his emotions well on camera and also be able to dance a range of dances. I want Trey to be able to convince the audience that he is singing towards the camera. Also the boy who plays Trey needs to have a slim body with muscular definition. I say this because in the majority of videos Trey Songz is in he always shows off his body for the ladies. That's the same idea i have for the boy so that Trey's target audience can easily notice that this is a music video that Trey would typically produce. I aim to keep the connection between the two however with an obvious difference of the boy playing Trey.

Possible candidates for Trey 

I have had a look at the possible boy that could play Trey and i can narrowed it down to three possible candidates, myself being part of the three. I have Brian Oblitey, Luke Madzudzo and myself as the possible candidates.

Brian Oblitey 

Brian is an excellent candidate the play Trey Songz because he is a singer himself and he is very confident in front of the camera and knows a to project a range of emotions as he is also studying Drama. He is also a very charismatic character full of joy. However the only issue with Brian is that he works on weekends which is when i plan to film my shoots and he may also be engaged to his schoolwork which means he may not always be available to film.

Luke Madzudzo

Luke is an enthusiastic, fun and easy to work with, he is able to bring laughter with every step he takes. He very open open minded and loves to dance  which fits in perfectly with the boy i want to play Trey he fits all the characteristics. In addition to that he does not work or have any weekend obligations that may effect our filming, which is a great bonus to have. However Luke may not be able to show the emotions i would want Trey to show in the music video. Also it helps to know that Luke is a fan of Trey which means he understands his type of performance. Luke is more of a dance based performance and not a singing performance which is something i need to take into consideration with i come to my final decision.

Final Decision 

Titus Goremucheche (Me)

My final decision is myself. I have chose myself because i am greatly inspired by Chris Brown and how he now produces, directs and edits his own music videos. I want to use that same technique that he is using and incorporate it into my music video as well. Also another reason why i have chosen myself to be Trey is for the filming schedule, not everyone will be able to meet for when i want to meet due to other obligations. If i limit the people who are going to be playing a part in the production of the video then that makes planning much easier. Another reason why i have chose myself to be in the music video is because i am confident in front of the camera and with the Drama performance skills i carry, i will be able to adapt them into the performance. In addition to that i also dance which is something i want to include into my music video. With the dancing in mind i can rely on myself to create a routine for the music video and not rely on someone else who may not find the time and effort to do so. Also i have met with the girls who are going to play the females in my music video and they are both comfortable to work with me. However the other candidates haven't built that bond between each other which may show when it comes to filming because they may be uncomfortable with each other because they have met as much or spoke to each other.  

Possible candidates for female one and female two

I have narrowed it down to two girls who are going to get the play female two and i have made my decision on which girl will play female one. The two possible candidates to play female two are Hannah Speitan and Maisie May Green. The candidate that will play female one will be Brittany Devaney.  

Hannah Speitan 

Hannah is a very worthy candidate she is spontaneous and enjoys having fun. She is also naturally flirtatious which is something am looking for. She is a very attractive young lady with burst of imagination which i feel she can add into the scene she will be in. She is also very confident and open mined. And after speaking to her she appear to be comfortable around me and is happy to perform along side me with out any discomfort. She also does drama which will be handy when it comes to this role. She does not work at the moment which means that she will most often be free on the weekends when i want to film

Maisie May Green 

Maisie is a very beautiful girl and is easy to work with and great fun to be around, she brings laughter into the room and is the ideal girl for this role. However Maisie is quite self conscious about her self which is something that may hinder the music video because you would be able to tell she is uncomfortable filming. This is something i will really need to take into consideration when i pick which girl will have this role.

Final Decision For female one 

    

Brittany Devaney

Brittany is a beautiful young girl full of life, she has a warm presence when she enters a room and she is fun and easy to work with. A bonus to Brittany being the final candidate is that she has her own car which she drives. I needed a girl who could drive. I chose Brittany to play the part of Trey's girlfriend because she has a cute young face which if she was crying would affect the audience more. Brittany is not to confident about her acting skills but i feel that she will do well even tho she may have doubts on her acting skills. However Brittany is tied down to a job which she works at on week days and some week ends which may be a problem but latest time she finishes is around 5:30 pm which is not bad considering majority of the shows with her will be inside a building or some sort.

Final Decision for female two 

 Hannah Speitan 

Taking in account everything from both candidates i feel that she will do the best in the role that i want her to be in.

In-conclusion Trey will be played by Titus Goremucheche i.e. Me and female one will be played by Brittany Devaney and female two shall be played by Hannah Speitan.
