Research-After Effects Mirror Effect

I want to have an effect on my music video that will invoke one of my characters to appear in a mirror and then disappear instantly. As i had practised using after effects with my disappearing video, i now had got the hang of learning how to use it. that being the case i had no clue on how to have someone disappear on a mirror. these videos helped me gain the knowledge i needed to ensure that i was able to go through with the plan of having someone disappear in a mirror.

My efforts

To begin with i needed to put up the same footage on top of each other and then i had to cut the footage down to the specific areas where i wanted. For the footage that you only see the character standing i only wanted that to play for about two seconds then it would go to a freeze frame and the only footage on top of it would be the only one playing.
the image to the right and below show the steps i took to put the two images together.

The part was now selecting the bits that i wanted to appear. i using the pen tool to dot out the areas that i wanted to be visible. I made them quite large so in the practise video i can work on improving that for he final piece. As you can see the picture on the left illustrates what i am saying. Also all the images below also show the pen tool process. To get the best outcome with the pen tool you have to make sure that it is as tight on the image as possible, it gives it a more finished and professional look.

After using the pen tool it was time to export the image to premier pro and see what it would look like in black and white.

Final piece

This is only a quick sample, it has the obvious hints that there is two videos put together. however on the final piece you wont be able to see the hints.
